John and Linda's

Return to Albums

After the event, John and Linda Deed generously invited us back to their delightful old farmhouse near Stowmarket for what was originally described as "tea and biscuits". Some had other commitments and were unable to take up the offer, but most made the short drive back to their country retreat and were well rewarded for their effort. "Tea and biscuits" turned out to be far more than that. Linda and helpers did us proud. There were 27 people trying to do justice to the spread Linda had prepared, but I fear we left far too much for Linda, John and helpers to finish up during the days that followed. Their new home is in an idyllic spot down a "no through lane" with just one other house and a farm for neighbours. We drove down their pretty gravel drive past the barn and the house and parked on the back lawn. Absolutely no problem with space, you could have a National Rally here. The sun was still very hot so we opted to sit in the shade of the trees at the bottom of the garden. We unpacked our chairs and set up our circle where we spent a very enjoyable couple of hours drinking, eating and talking, before we gradually slipped away to continue our journeys home.

Welcoming drinks in the kitchen with the hostess, Linda, looking as though she is saying "oh its just a snack, we eat like this all the time"

Soon after this we were all banished from the kitchen and we set up camp in the shade at the bottom of the garden.

Linda finally gets time to sit down, have something to eat and "catch up" with the day's events.

The man to her left is a friend of John's from the MG RV8 club and it is his car behind Linda.

Karen and Roger Edwards. Karen was dressed in a similar manner at the freezing cold and wet Kimbolton event, and she was frozen. It was their first event and we were not sure whether we'd see them again. Hopefully, this event will have persuaded them that Panthering can be very enjoyable,

That's not a halo over John Gibson's head, (as if), its just the sun getting low as the evening moves on.

Les tries out the RV8 for size. It's a nice car Les but surely you wouldn't forsake your old Panther!

Well that's it folks. Thank you all for coming to the event and a special  thank you to John and Linda for their hospitality. It really did provide a splendid end to a very enjoyable day.
